Puwerty 2026
Puwerty is celebrating its tenth edition. Ten years already. Long enough to organise a festival, have an existential crisis, or both at the same time.
An anniversary edition to continue imagining together what it means to be young today.
With its ‘Power + Puberty’ formula, the La Casa Encendida festival continues to be a platform for artists under the age of 26 who work across disciplines and through experimentation in contemporary music, audiovisual and performing arts.
As part of the programme, the festival hosts the LIT series, organised in collaboration with ECAM, curated this year by Daria Voicu, Sofia Nicolaescu, Tomás Salbar, Abril Fernández, Candela Gómez and Nicolás Guerrero. The series, entitled ‘Confesiones Confusas’, presents cinema as a framework for exploring personal and collective feelings and concerns, through films made without industrial backing and on a low budget, such as Lucía Seles’s The Bewilderment of Chile, which opens the programme on Thursday afternoon.
On Friday 16th, Sergio Pinilla’s To Become a Trickster – the winning project of Bandeja de Entrada 2026 – will be screened. Through a narrated gameplay session, the artist explores the fantasies and contradictions of remote working and digital identities. In the afternoon, Virginia Martín presents her choreographed piece Love Language, an exploration of the bodily codes we use to draw closer to and seduce one another. In the evening, TKMAMI and Superreservao present two distinct ways of understanding new urban music – ranging from the pop chaos of the internet, memes and cringe aesthetics to melancholic trap.
The morning of Saturday 17th is dedicated to collaborative creation. Alicia Otero will lead a writing workshop where memories are transformed into stories, whilst Teresa Díez Izco will guide participants in turning digital images into contemporary jewellery and charms. At lunchtime, Tomasa Crucero will lead a collective screen-printing session so that the public can create their own Puwerty merchandise based on the designs created by Karmen Ameller for this year’s visual identity.
In the afternoon, a wrestling show will be staged at the festival, showcasing this discipline that straddles sport, performance art and the performing arts, where the characters, rivalries and audience participation are just as important as the matches themselves. The final day of the festival concludes with concerts by LeChatelier, featuring distorted guitars, melancholic melodies and synths; Cristina Len revives traditional songs from Martiago, reinterpreting them through electronic music and accompanying them with an audiovisual project created in collaboration with the people who keep that legacy alive. Meanwhile, Salomelody brings the tenth edition to a close with a hybrid show combining a DJ set, a concert and a performance.
